Gemini 4 Argon is available first to trusted cyber defenders in Google’s Fairwind program and to Google employees using it internally. Google’s September 30, 2026 announcement describes the initial rollout but does not give a public release date.

Who can use Gemini 4 Argon now?
| Group | What Google has confirmed |
|---|---|
| Trusted cyber defenders in Fairwind | Initial outside access for defensive security work |
| Google teams | Internal use, including testing and deployment work |
| Paid API customers | Named as part of the wider release; no start date published |
| Google AI Ultra subscribers | Named as part of the wider release; no start date published |
| Free users and ordinary app visitors | No public Argon access confirmed |
The status above is a snapshot of Google’s announcement and the Artificial Analysis model record checked on October 5, 2026. The record marked Argon as not publicly available at that time.
What Fairwind means
Fairwind is the limited program for trusted cyber defenders. Google says these early users help evaluate and improve safeguards while working on vulnerability discovery, validation, and patching. The launch post names Wiz’s Scan for Good program as an example.
Google also says Fairwind users can access the model without the usual cyber guardrails so they can perform defensive work. That describes the controlled test group; it does not provide a public sign-up path.
What “wider release” means
Google says the wider release starts with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers. It does not state which group receives access first, give a calendar date, or promise that every customer in either group has access immediately. Google describes broader developer, enterprise, and consumer access as coming as soon as possible.
That wording is the most precise answer to “when can I use Gemini 4 Argon?” A paid plan or API account may be part of the planned rollout, but it is not evidence of access on October 5. The Gemini app plan update is a separate consumer-app question.
What you can use today
Argon remains a closed model in this access snapshot. If you want a Google model you can run now, download Gemma 4 or compare Gemma 4 and Gemini. Gemma 4 is an open-weight line and is separate from Gemini 4 Argon.
Google’s launch pricing and output limit are summarized in Gemini 4 Argon API pricing, while the reported scores are separated by source in Gemini 4 Argon benchmarks.
